Sayang (She/They) is a singer-songwriter/filmmaker based in Austin, TX with the Ilocano moniker, 'sayang' meaning "what a waste" - in one context, a waste to people who don't agree with their choices in life and who they authentically are. In another context, they reclaim the meaning for themselves & remember how much a waste it would be to not follow their heart, which has been a constant struggle via cultural/societal expectations. They write, co-produce/direct their music & videos. Their two singles “Catcall & Response” & “Leftovers” landed placements on rotation at KUTX & were shortlisted as Austin's best songs/videos of the year.
